Estimated that 70 percent of employees will be engineers
When Panasonic Corporation of North America was looking at locations to open up its new divisional operations hub for Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co., there were three things the new location needed: economic viability, great public transportation access, and to be a fit with the business climate, political environment and the people.
Colorado, with its supportive business landscape and educated workforce, was the natural choice.
“What we found in the state became somewhat of a slam dunk in terms of fit,” said Jim Doyle, president of Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co. “Everyone we met, no matter what political party they were from, were welcoming, inclusive and ready to collaborate.”
Expected to open late 2016, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions will eventually be home to as many as 400 employees, the core of whom are engineers.
“Without great talent you struggle as an organization,” Doyle said. “We’re lucky that the 150 current Panasonic employees, who are coming here, love the idea of Denver. The city has a lot to offer from access to the mountains, vibrancy of the downtown and convenience of the airport that make it appealing to our workforce.”
Doyle added, “From a new hire perspective, I’m excited to tap into the educational system across Colorado. With access to graduates from Colorado School of Mines, CSU, DU, Metro State and CU, we really have a wide breadth of resourceful talent from which to choose.”
Established as the innovation, engineering and sales hub for solutions for Panasonic Corporation of North America, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co. was created to develop and test technologies from solar to battery storage and how they can be applied in solutions to enhance sustainable living, working and playing.
Doyle envisions that the 400-acre mix-use site, which is one stop from Denver International Airport on the commuter line, will serve as a beacon for sustainable development globally.
As for Doyle, who has lived from sea to shining sea, he is taking advantage of Colorado’s 300 days of sunshine and climate right now.
“Here in Colorado you don’t have the crazy humidity found elsewhere around the states. The dryness is immensely a positive element.”
